Services provided include:

  • Site planning
  • Site design, documentation and contract administration
  • Landscape drawing

Site planning

This involves a site visit to identify and resolve fundamental site layout problems in relation to the selection and location of land uses, existing features, activities, structures, landform, open space, planting areas, water bodies, walkways, parking and vehicular access routes etc.

Site design, documentation and contract administration

The typical stages of design are preliminary design, design development and detail drawings (contract documentation).

Preliminary design involves consultation with the client, site investigation, photos of site and the production of a concept plan that will show the broad intent of the design. The detail of the concept plan will depend on the scale of the project.

Design development involves further refining the concept plan with sufficient detail to clearly represent the spatial patterns, vegetation types, materials, surfaces and overall character.

Contract documentation involves the production of detail drawings that allow the project to be accurately priced and constructed. This will usually involve the production of site plans and details at a number of different scales depending on the type of project. Cost estimates are provided to make sure the project fits with the budget and changes made to reduce costs if required. A detailed specification is provided with conditions of contract and pricing schedules. Tenders can be called for the project and tender evaluation carried out to select a preferred contractor.

Contract administration

This stage involves the site supervision of the construction of the project. This generally includes site visits, site meetings, site instructions, processing payment certificates, variations and making sure that the works are being carried out in general accordance with the contract documents.

Landscape drawing

Philip specializes in drawing landscape plans and details in Autocad 2009 software. This software is compatible with the majority of Engineering and Architect drawing software and landscape plans can be easily generated from survey plans or house plans for example.

Philip can produce simple 3D drawings using Sketch Up software. Representing the landscape plan in 3D provides a clear spatial understanding of all the components of the plan.

Axonometric freehand drawing is a quick way to understand the plan and is effective as presentation plans for publications or public input as the intent of the design is easily viewed.
